Own a home in Ocala but live somewhere else?
I am Mika Harris, Broker-Owner of SwanGate Real Estate Services. I am your eyes on the ground in Ocala, whether you want to sell, rent, or manage.
Distance should not mean worry
Many people own a home in Ocala that they cannot easily reach. A winter home that sits empty through summer. A house you inherited. A property you kept when your job moved you. Whatever the story, it is hard to sell, rent, or care for a home from hundreds of miles away.
I work with owners in that position. I am the licensed broker on the ground, and I handle the details so you do not have to fly in for every decision.
Three ways I can help
Most out-of-town owners fall into one of three situations. You may want to sell, to rent the home to a tenant, or to keep it and have it looked after. Each has its own page, and I can help you choose.
If you are still deciding, call me and talk it through. I will lay out what each option looks like, what it costs in time and effort, and what I would want to know about your home first.
Selling from a distance
Selling does not require you to be in Ocala. I can handle showings, questions from buyers and agents, and negotiation, and I keep you informed at each step. Some paperwork may need to be signed in person or before a notary, and I will tell you what to expect. My selling page explains the process, and my guide on selling an Ocala home from out of state goes into detail.
Renting it out
If you would rather keep the home, renting it can make sense. I get the home ready, list it, screen applicants with background checks, and help you choose a tenant. Read more about property management and rentals.
Having the home looked after
If the home is vacant or needs work, I can walk through it, note what needs attention, and coordinate repairs with qualified professionals. I send photo and video updates so you can see the results without making the trip.
What updates look like
I keep it simple. You get the news that matters, when it happens, by the method you prefer: phone, text, or email. Photos and videos show the home as it stands. If something needs a decision from you, I tell you clearly what the choice is and what I recommend.
Homes in 55+ communities
If your home is in a 55+ community, there are extra questions about rules for buyers and renters. Each community sets its own rules, and I check them early so there are no surprises. Read about the communities I know best on the 55+ communities page.
Inherited homes
If you inherited a home, the practical questions can arrive before the emotional ones are settled. I can help you understand your options for selling or renting. For estate and legal matters, your attorney is the right guide, and I am glad to work with them.
Who I do this for
I do this for owners across the country and, in some cases, outside it. Owners who have worked with me have described how I answered quickly and kept them informed from far away. I hold myself to that standard.
Ask about your home
Tell me where you are, what you own, and what you would like to happen. Call or text me at 352-850-6477, or send a message about your home.
Questions people ask
Can I sell my Ocala home without traveling there?
Often, yes. I can handle showings, negotiation, and updates while you stay where you are. Some documents may need to be signed in person or through a notary, and I will tell you what applies.
How will I know what is happening at the home?
I keep in touch by phone, text, and email and share photo and video updates. You do not have to guess what is happening at the property.
Can you find a tenant for a home I cannot visit?
Yes. I prepare the home, list it, screen applicants, and keep you informed until a lease is signed. I can also stay on for management after that.
What if the home needs repairs before I sell or rent it?
I can walk through the home, tell you what needs attention, and coordinate the work with qualified professionals. I send photo and video updates so you can see progress.
